2018 Your Story, Your Voice Contest

2018 Your Story, Your Voice Contest Rules

The Representative for Children and Youth’s Office is excited to announce the fourth annual, Your Story, Your Voice Contest! We hope you and your class will join us this year in participating and learning more about child rights.

We began this contest for young people in 2015 – to raise awareness of National Child Day, child rights, and our office. National Child Day is celebrated around the world every year on November 20 to mark the signing of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In 2018, we are once again asking for class art submissions where all students in a class work together to create a visual expression of this year’s theme!

Contest Theme for 2018

This year’s theme is a child’s right to education, found in Article 28 and 29 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Article 28 states that all children have a right to a good quality education. They should be encouraged to go to school to the highest level they can.

Article 29 states that a child’s education should help them use and develop their talents, and abilities. It should also help them learn to live peacefully, protect the environment, and respect other people.

If you would like more information on this right, please take a look at the background information and resources document provided.
